It's All Within You

For 2012 and beyond, I have been looking for a new JBM Motto and something that drives me. Something that inspires me, and something that makes me want to "reach" for things... I found that new quote and motto:

‘And finally... This question: The mystery of whose story it will be... Who is it that chooses our steps in a dance? Who drives us mad, flashes us with whips, crowns us with victory when we survive the impossible? Who is it that tells all these things? Who honors those we love for the very life we live? Who sends monsters to kill us… and at the same time sings that we’ll never die? Who teaches us what’s real… and how to laugh at lies? Who decides why we live and what we’ll die to defend? Who chains us… and who holds the key that can set us free?

It’s YOU. You have all the weapons you need. Now FIGHT!‘

Happy Ash Wednesday and the start of the Lenten season. I wish you enough and hope you kick ass. I know I am going to...

Cheers,

Why Phonics And Reading Comprehension Are Important Life Skills

This exchange SERIOUSLY just happened:
Her: Is this ume dressing?
Me: No, it's not.
Her: How can you tell?
Me: Well, ume is a different color, and this is orange. Also, on the label, it says XY Dressing, not ume.
Her: Oh. Are you sure?
Me: *glare*
Her: I don't see any ume back there.
Me: We are out.
Her: Are you sure?
Me: Yes ma'am. We are out.
Her: Oh. Are you sure?
Me: *glare*
Now, I am not one to judge others TOO harshly, when possible. But this is ridiculous. If you can't read it, and I still tell you... are you that high or stupid and can't understand the fact that I am not lying to you about salad dressing? Lord Jesus, have mercy...

#DailyProverbs February 7, 2012 - Wisdom is Precious

#DailyProverbs 7:2-4
Tuesday, February 7, 2012

It has been said that Wisdom is Precious. I don't think "they" mean a big inner city girl, either. Although the kind of wisdom she had was hard-won and earned through trials and tribulations. There is definitely that kind of wisdom. The kind that you get by going through an experience and coming out on the other side, you know what you have been through. And hopefully, you know how to navigate either away from negative things, or steer successfully in ways that help you.

Yes, they say that Wisdom is one of the most precious things you'll ever acquire. And it has taken centuries and eons to prove that adage true.
2 Do what I say, and you will live. Be as careful to follow my teaching as you are to protect your eyes. 3 Keep my teaching with you all the time; write it on your heart. 4 Treat wisdom as your sister, and insight as your closest friend.
Even thousands of years ago, someone wrote a proverb begging his children to stay smart and keep some wisdom about them. To protect it, as they would each other and a sibling. To treat insight like a close friend. To cover it and ensure its safety like one would protect their eyesight...

What can this tell us today? The same thing, dummy. Get smart, get wise. And if you are lucky enough and last long enough to actually gain some insight and wisdom... KEEP IT!! Protect it, love it, and let it help and serve you well.

Cheers,

#DailyProverbs 6:12
Monday, February 6, 2012
12 Worthless, wicked people go around telling lies.
How many of you have ever lied? How many of you have ever lied about someone? How many have ever told a lie just to get even or damage a person due to jealousy? Hmm, there are probably not very many that would raise their hand or own up to it. Not many would want to be known that it happened or that they actually did something like that.

How many of you maybe haven't lied to go to quite that dramatic of a length... but have lied to "fit in"? Have you lied to embellish a story, or make it "more interesting"? Have you repeated gossip that is unverified or unnecessary because it made you seem better or in the know? Like you are on the inside and you make people feel like they should be on the outside?

How many of you listen to lies? Do you let others lie and gossip about your mutual friends? Do you tell one thing to one friend, and then play the other side of the fence? Do you create lies of omission by keeping silent when you hear a blatant untruth about someone you know? Do you just laugh and keep drinking to "fit in" with the crowd?

The bottom line is that lies are lies. God sees you. Others see you. I see you. Be careful out there...

#DailyProverbs February 5, 2012 - God is Watching Us...

#DailyProverbs 5:21-23
Sunday, February 5, 2012

I don't know if I find it more comforting or kind of creepy that God watches us. I mean, Bette Midler told us this in "From a Distance", and Santa has been accused of "knowing when we are sleeping... or when we are awake". There are those that say God is omniscient which is "all knowing". And omnipresent, which is "everywhere". But today, for those that might be contemplating giving up the fight, and giving in to those that are pressuring them... God knows, honey. God sees. And God is rooting for YOU, not for them.

Here's a little bit of homespun Proverbs 5:21-23 wisdom for you: Git! Git away from those that'll lead you down a wrong/bad path and stay with those that will boost, edify, and help you become your BEST you.

21 The Lord sees everything you do. Wherever you go, he is watching. 22 The sins of the wicked are a trap. They get caught in the net of their own sin. 23 They die because they have no self-control. Their utter stupidity will send them to their graves.
